Mampang Riverwall Project On Track for September Finish

The repair of the Mampang River embankment along the Jalan Poncol Jaya segment in Kuningan Barat, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, is expected to be finalized by early September 2026.

South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA)'s Maintenance Section Head, Junjung Paulus stated that the restoration of this flood control infrastructure is a preemptive measure to prepare for the upcoming rainy season and mitigate flood risks.

"We're repairing the embankment because field monitoring revealed several damaged sections. There are concerns that these parts could collapse or give way when the rainy season arrives," he explained, Thursday (8/20).

He explained that the project, which commenced on July 17, 2026, involves repairing a 300-meter stretch of the embankment with a height of 310 centimeters. The work is being conducted manually by a dedicated team of six personnel.

"We are accelerating the pace of this project, and hopefully, it will be completed by early next month before the onset of the rainy season," he explained.

He noted that the structural reinforcement is expected to mitigate the risk of riverbank degradation caused by erosion and surging water levels during the rainy season.

"We remain steadfast in our commitment to providing reliable water resource infrastructure to ensure the safety and well-being of the public across all weather conditions," Junjung concluded.

The repair received appreciation from a local resident, Ahmad Ansori.

He noted that proactive measures are essential to manage the potential surge in water levels as the rainy season approaches.

"The previous condition of the embankment was quite concerning. With these repairs, we certainly hope its function will be significantly improved and operate optimally to protect our area," he closed.
