Ondel-ondel Flower Arrangement Sets World Record

The 5.9-meter-high ondel-ondel-shaped Aster flower arrangement that enlivened the 2026 Rawa Belong Flower Festival event, successfully set a record at the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) and the world.

Assembled using approximately 30,000 aster flowers

Head of Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency, Hasudungan Sidabalok, explained the Ondel-ondel replicas are assembled using approximately 30,000 aster flowers in various colors. The process began two weeks before the Flower Festival.

"For the making of the replica, today, the world record certificate from MURI was handed over to us at DKPKP, especially the Center for Promotion and Certification of Agricultural Products (PPSHP) and the traders," he explained, Thursday (9/3).

He hopes that this world record achievement awarded by MURI will also strengthen the promotion of the Rawa Belong Flower Market and increase public interest in flowers.

"Hopefully this activity can be consistent so that it becomes an annual routine agenda and an iconic event for Jakarta," he hoped.

MURI Senior Manager, Triyono, said that his party had verified and declared the replica flower arrangement of the ondel-ondel to be a masterpiece.

According to him, this ondel-ondel flower arrangement is not just a giant doll, but a symbol of identity, friendliness and the spirit of the people of Jakarta.

"It is hoped that this activity will further solidify Rawa Belong's status as one of Southeast Asia's largest flower centers. And hopefully, in the future, it will become a premier flower tourism destination in Asia," he hoped.
