Jakarta Ensures KJMU Students Can Continue Studies Despite Decile Data Issues

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Jakarta Education Agency, is ensuring that 147 KJMU recipients facing issues with updated decile data continue to receive assistance so they can continue their education.

We have never removed KJMU students because of this decile data issue

Jakarta Education Agency Head Nahdiana said that based on assistance provided since the previous semester, 73 students are now in deciles 1 through 5, making them eligible to reapply for KJMU.

"So when KJMU registration opens tomorrow, these 73 students will already be able to register for KJMU," Nahdiana said during a working meeting with the Jakarta City Council Commission E on Wednesday (9/9).

Meanwhile, the remaining 74 students are still undergoing the verification process. Nahdiana added that the Jakarta Education Agency has sent letters to 28 universities asking them not to dismiss the students while the verification process is underway.

According to her, several universities have agreed to retain the students. One of them is Jakarta State University (UNJ), which has 16 students receiving assistance.

"We have also confirmed this with the university, and they have agreed to retain all of them," she asserted.

The Education Agency is also following up on several special cases, including a student from Sebelas Maret University (UNS) who transferred to another university and a student from the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) who withdrew after believing they were not included in the decile group eligible for assistance.

Together with the Jakarta Baznas (Bazis), the Education Agency is seeking alternative scholarships for these students so they can complete their education.

Nahdiana stressed that the agency has never removed KJMU recipients solely because of issues with their decile data. She also asked students who have been dismissed by their universities due to KJMU-related issues to immediately report their cases to the Education Agency.

"If there are students who have been dismissed because of KJMU, please report their names to us because we have never removed KJMU students because of this decile data issue," she emphasized.

In addition to addressing issues related to the decile system, the Education Agency also plans to expand KJMU coverage to students at private universities with B and C accreditation.

The agency is also preparing a merit-based master's scholarship scheme for graduates who have obtained a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from a university.

The domestic master's scholarship scheme is still being prepared, while cooperation with overseas universities is targeted to begin in 2027.

"We ask for your support in ensuring that this program is properly targeted," she said.
