Modernizing South Jakarta, Utility Network Overhaul Moves Forward on Jalan Soepomo

Construction is back underway on South Jakarta’s Integrated Utility Network Facility (SJUT) along the western side of Jalan Prof. Dr. Soepomo.

Spearheaded by the Jakarta Bina Marga Agency, the project is part of a citywide movement toward a safer, cleaner, and fully integrated urban landscape.

This Integrated Utility Network expansion along the western stretch of Jalan Prof. Dr. Soepomo is moving forward in five key segments, announced Imam Adi Nugraha, Head of Urban Utility Facilities Division. Focus is currently on Segment 1, covering a total of 13 manholes.

“We've completed 10 manholes so far, with crews actively working to wrap up this phase and move to the next,” he expressed, Thursday (9/10).

He emphasized that the project is a pivotal step toward restructuring utility networks, ensuring they are managed more systematically.

“With a well-organized utility grid, we can significantly improve infrastructure management along public roads while creating a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable environment for everyone,” he noted.

The agency remains committed to executing each phase according to plan, with a strong focus on limiting the construction's impact on everyday movement.

Traffic management is also a top priority. In close partnership with the Jakarta Transportation Agency, teams are managing local traffic flow so that infrastructure progress and daily mobility go hand in hand.

In the meantime, staged traffic management measures are being rolled out along Jalan Prof. Dr. Soepomo, from Crown Plaza to the SMEC Tebet Eye Clinic, temporarily narrowing available road lanes.

Imam reassured commuters that safety remains paramount. Construction zones are fully equipped with protective hoardings, warning signs, and informational boards for clear visibility.

“We urge drivers to stay alert, respect the temporary road signs, and help us ensure the smooth rollout of South Jakarta’s smart utility grid,” he urged.
