The parade, held in conjunction with Car Free Day (CFD), is part of a series of events to welcome the tournament and to bring the spirit of football closer to the community.
The event featured a giant ball, a parade of participating countries' flags, and the unveiling of the FIFA ASEAN Cup trophy. Around 400 football academy students participated, along with Indonesian football legends and a number of stakeholders.
According to Pramono, the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 also serves as a momentum to strengthen the football ecosystem in Jakarta. The presence of football in public spaces is expected to expand interactions between athletes, the younger generation, communities, and the public.
"The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to support the development of the football ecosystem and sports activities that involve the community. It is hoped that this momentum will not only contribute to the success of the tournament but also encourage the emergence of more football talent from Jakarta and Indonesia," he added.
Pramono also ensured that the Jakarta Provincial Government also ensures support for the organizers' needs in terms of security, comfort, and ease of transportation for participants while in Jakarta.
"Everyone competing in Jakarta should feel safe and comfortable. Everything is now easy, and transportation is fully prepared. If further assistance is needed, we are ready to provide it," Pramono ensured.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, expressed his appreciation for the Jakarta Provincial Government's support for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. He expressed his hope that Indonesia would be a good host and achieve the best results in the tournament.
Erick urged the Indonesian public to warmly welcome supporters from participating countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. He believes the tournament should serve as a momentum to strengthen sportsmanship and friendship among ASEAN countries.
"The goal is to be a good host, ensuring that all participants are happy and safe. I'm confident that Indonesian supporters have become mature supporters," he stated.
