Dismantling of Former Kampung Bayam Temporary Shelters Confirmed to Proceed Smoothly

North Jakarta Mayor, Hendra Hidayat inspected the dismantling of temporary housing units for former Kampung Bayam residents on Jalan Tongkol, RT 09/01, Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan District.

Hendra stated that the dismantling process, which is targeted for completion today, is proceeding safely, smoothly, and in an orderly manner.

Hendra explained that former residents of Kampung Bayam have been relocated to more suitable housing. In addition to their homes, the residents have also been provided with garden facilities that can be used to support agricultural activities.
The facility is expected to support residents' activities while simultaneously improving their quality of life in the future.
"I also urge local residents to safeguard this cleared land so that it can be redeveloped in accordance with future area planning," he appealed.
Meanwhile, Head of North Jakarta Satpol PP, Budhy Novian stated the demolition has entered its fourth day since the enforcement operation began last Friday.
A total of 41 buildings were demolished. These consisted of 36 residents' homes, two places of worship, one seedling nursery, one communal sanitation facility, and one meeting hall.
"Every day, we deploy a joint team of approximately 100 personnel. This operation is supported by three Satpol PP trucks, two parks agency vehicles, and seven Environment Agency vehicles," he explained.
He added that this land will be developed to support the construction of landscapes and fencing for the flats which covers the surrounding area.
During the demolition process, personnel and residents also sorted the remaining building materials.
"Materials that are still suitable are separated for reuse, while materials that are not suitable are immediately transported to a temporary waste disposal site," he admitted.
