MV Doulos Hope Docks in Jakarta to Boost Literacy and Book Access

The world-renowned floating book fair, MV Doulos Hope, has officially docked in Jakarta! Marking a historic return 38 years after her legendary sister ship Doulos last visited in 1988, this floating haven is back to inspire a new generation.

Housing over 2,000 affordable book titles, Doulos Hope is far more than a mobile bookstore—it’s an immersive hub for discovery, learning, and family-friendly fun.
Jakarta Project Coordinator for Doulos Hope, Madalena Reinaldo shared that the floating book fair aims to reach every corner of the community, bringing hard-to-find, high-quality books to everyone at truly accessible prices.

Beyond providing access to books, this return to Jakarta is all about rekindling a legacy built in 1988—teaming up with local communities and inspiring a whole new generation.
Backed by an international crew of 100 volunteers from around the world, Theo from Doulos Hope's Advance Team shared that the vessel is on a mission to bring people together through rich cultural exchange.
"We’re excited to introduce fresh concepts to Jakarta: a vibrant destination where families can connect and kids can rediscover the joy of reading," he shared.
MV Doulos Hope opens its doors at Tanjung Priok Port from September 16 to October 11, 2026. To join the experience, simply check in at the North Jakarta Youth Center (GRJU) and hop on the complimentary shuttle bus straight to the ship.

- Free Entry: Kids aged 12 & under and Seniors aged 65 & older.

- Tuesday – Sunday: 1:30 PM – 9 PM (Last entry at 8:30 PM).
