Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is fully backing Kanye West's upcoming "Ye Live in Jakarta 2026" concert, taking place on October 24 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
This is such a proud milestone
As the only city in Southeast Asia and Oceania selected for the tour, Jakarta is capitalizing on a major milestone that promises to drive tourism, empower the creative economy, and enhance the capital's profile as a global city.
Pramono shared his support during a press conference for the event at Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (9/16).
Jakpro Confirms JIS is Ready to Host NCT DREAM Concert"This is such a proud milestone. Jakarta was picked as the only stop in Southeast Asia and Oceania for this massive concert. If we don't seize this opportunity now, it's completely our loss," he added.
The concert overlaps with the annual Jakarta Running Festival 2026, running from October 22–25 with around 38,000 participating runners.
He believes these back-to-back major events will bring extra color and excitement to the city. To keep everything running smoothly and prevent gridlock, the Jakarta government will provide special transport arrangements.
"We'll manage the transit services to make it convenient for eventgoers. If we don't, one side is bound to get disrupted—either the marathon or the concert," he added.
Alongside the Transportation Agency, the city government is dispatching Satpol PP personnel to secure the events.
Pramono highlighted that this is a great showcase for Jakarta's capacity to host global events. He reaffirmed that the city administration will back high-profile international events to make sure they go off without a hitch.
The various activities organized across Jakarta have generated a favorable economic output, driving regional growth to 5.52 percent this quarter while contributing 16.15 percent to the national GDP.
During the first half of the year, the capital registered 8.82 million domestic tourist arrivals and 1.04 million international visitors, representing an 8.17 percent increase year-over-year.
He reiterated his conviction that a diverse portfolio of events will enhance the cultural and economic vitality of the capital.
"Accordingly, for the various events we intend to facilitate—including this upcoming concert and other initiatives—we remain fully receptive and committed to extending complete operational support to guarantee their success," Pramono affirmed.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana praised Jakarta's leadership for backing global events like the Kanye West show.
"We really appreciate the Jakarta Government for always stepping up with full support and making things smooth for international concerts," she noted.
She noted that bringing world-class music acts to the city gives a major boost to tourism and the local economy.
"Events of this scale really help kickstart the economic chain throughout our tourism ecosystem," she added.
The "Ye Live in Jakarta 2026" concert is bringing in fans from all over the world—including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, the US, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK, Germany, Vietnam, New Zealand, and beyond.
This global show is set to give a major boost to the entire local tourism scene, from hotels to food and dining.
