MSME Ministry Allies with Jakarta to Empower Local Enterprises

In collaboration with the central government and industry stakeholders, Jakarta is bolstering a trade ecosystem that links local products to global buyers, investors, and commercial partners, highlighted by JITEX 2026.

JITEX isn't simply a space to display goods

The expo serves as a springboard for MSMEs to scale up operations and forge strategic networks, paving the way for Indonesian goods to thrive both nationally and internationally.

Emphasizing real economic outcomes, Ministry of MSMEs Secretary Loto Srinaita Ginting noted that JITEX’s impact goes far beyond exhibition numbers.

JITEX 2026 Highlights Efforts to Expand MSMEs into Global Markets

“JITEX isn't simply a space to display goods. We gauge success by actual transactions, supplier deals, strategic partnerships, investment inflows, and expanded market access—not to mention a genuine boost in foreign tourist visits,' she expressed, Thursday (9/17).

Aiming for up to Rp 16 trillion in trade and investment deals, JITEX 2026 is driving results through exhibitions, targeted business matching, investment forums, and supplier-investor meetups.

According to Loto, the biggest hurdle for MSMEs isn't just manufacturing high-quality goods, but connecting with high-growth market channels that allow them to scale.

Key outlets include modern retail chains, hospitality and dining, tourism hubs, enterprise supply chains, international trade, and major industry expos.

Driven by strong trade performance, Indonesian exports hit USD 167 billion between January and July 2026, up 4.43 percent from the previous year.

At the same time, booming tourism is opening new doors for local entrepreneurs. The arrival of 1.53 million international visitors in July 2026 creates a lucrative market for local culinary items, fashion, crafts, and keepsakes.

“MSMEs must tap into tourism, hospitality, and retail channels. But to succeed, local businesses need to step up their game in terms of legalities, certification, packaging, sharp pricing, production scale, and steady supply,” she emphasized.

In terms of digital payments, QRIS adoption expanded to 44.86 million merchants through June 2026, with an overwhelming 96.68 percent representing small businesses. First-half QRIS transactions totaled Rp 1.12 trillion.

On funding, the micro-credit program (KUR) distributed Rp 219.6 trillion by September 2026, reaching 75.7 percent of its yearly goal and assisting 3.41 million borrowers.

“Investment drives supply chains, tourism fuels demand for local crafts, and retail seeks top-tier products—while MSMEs depend on markets, capital, tech, and strategic alliances. We are bridging these sectors together,”she stated.

To further support local businesses, the ministry introduced 'SAPA MSME,' a one-stop service portal designed to streamline small business development.

“This digital hub delivers end-to-end support, offering integrated services from pre-production all the way to post-production,” she noted.

Notably, JITEX 2026 runs from September 16 to 19 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Members of the public, investors, buyers, and industry partners can visit the expo firsthand to discover local products and unlock new strategic partnerships.
