JITEX 2026 Highlights Efforts to Expand MSMEs into Global Markets

The Jakarta Provincial Government, through Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency, continues to strengthen the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so they can expand their markets both nationally and globally.

Become competitive in broader markets

The effort was among the topics discussed at the JITEX Forum & Talks: Nusantara Products Forum, held on the first day of the Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism and SMEs Expo (JITEX) 2026 on Wednesday (9/16).

JITEX 2026: Fostering a Global Trade and Investment Ecosystem

The forum brought together representatives from the Jakarta PPKUKM Agency, the Ministry of Cooperatives, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Asian Trade, Tourism, and Economics Council (ATTEC), and the Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants Association (HIPPINDO).

The discussion covered strategies to expand market access for domestic products, particularly MSME products, through improvements in quality, standardization, certification, production capacity, and partnerships.

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said JITEX serves as a strategic platform for businesses to connect their products with prospective buyers, investors, business partners, and various market networks.

"JITEX is not only a platform to showcase products, but also part of efforts to open up wider market access for businesses. We want Nusantara products to go beyond the exhibition stage and lead to transactions, partnerships, and business development opportunities, including access to international markets," Ratu explained.

Ratu said expanding market access must go hand in hand with product readiness and business capacity. She stressed that meeting standards, legal requirements, and certification requirements, as well as ensuring packaging quality, production capacity, and a consistent supply, are essential for MSME products to meet the demands of increasingly competitive markets.

"With an ecosystem connecting business owners, buyers, retailers, investors, and business partners, we hope more local products can move up the value chain and become competitive in broader markets," she added.

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Secretary Frida Elizabeth explained that JITEX is an annual international-scale exhibition that is being held for the third time in 2026. The exhibition covers four main sectors: investment, trade, tourism, and MSMEs.

Frida stressed that JITEX is aimed not only at introducing local products to visitors, but also at creating opportunities for Indonesian products to be accepted, purchased, and developed in international markets.

"We hope these products will not only be showcased overseas, but can truly be accepted, purchased, and developed in international markets," she said.
