Jakarta Parekraf Committed to Raising Culinary Workforce Quality to ASEAN Standards

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Professional Training Center has organized the 2026 Training and Certification Program for Tourism and Creative Economy Professionals under the Commis Pastry scheme.

Held at the Candi Kalasan Room on the second floor of the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel Jakarta, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Kavling 86, Karet Tengsin, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, the three-day program ran from September 15 to 17, 2026.

It included training sessions, followed by theoretical and practical examinations, and concluded with a competency assessment conducted by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

Jakarta Parekraf Agency Head Andhika Permata said the program is a strategic step by the local government to meet the growing demand for professional and certified pastry workers amid the rapid growth of Jakarta's food and beverage (F&B) and hospitality industries.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the capacity of culinary workers to support Jakarta's tourism ecosystem.

"The F&B sector, particularly bakery and pastry, requires precision, hygiene, and a high level of technical skills. Through this training and certification, we are committed to ensuring that workers in Jakarta have qualifications recognized nationally and regionally, enabling them to deliver world-class service standards and remain highly competitive," he said on Thursday (9/17).

Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Professional Training Center Endrati Fariani noted that the program was held in collaboration with LPK Kedua Bersaudara Training & Consulting and LSP Hotel dan Restoran to ensure high-quality instruction and objective assessments.

She explained that this year's program features a significant update by adopting the ASEAN Toolbox curriculum, which serves as the highest standard for tourism education in Southeast Asia.

"Through training based on the ASEAN Toolbox, BNSP competency assessments, and premium ingredients provided by our industry partners, Jakarta Parekraf Agency is optimistic that the graduates will be able to enter the hospitality, restaurant, and leading bakery industries directly, while also strengthening Jakarta's competitiveness as a global tourism and culinary destination," she outlined.

A total of 35 participants took part in the program after undergoing a rigorous selection process. Recruitment was conducted online from August 13 to September 7, 2026, through a registration link promoted via the official Instagram accounts @disparekrafdki and @p4ekraf_dki.

Participants were selected based on administrative screening and a pre-test. Those who completed all training sessions were eligible to take the BNSP Competency Assessment.

The training and certification program was also made possible through collaboration and full support from leading industry partners.

High-quality ingredients were supplied by PT Delisari Nusantara through its Grand Fermage Unsalted France Butter, Monna Lisa Whipping Cream, Shine Dark Block Chocolate Compound, and Del's Master Joy products, as well as by PT Mulia Boga Raya Tbk through its Prochiz products.

"This synergy with leading ingredient producers allows participants to train and be assessed using products that meet professional kitchen standards," she said.
