Setiabudi PKK Cadres Harvest Pakcoy on the School Rooftop

A total of 11 kilograms of pakcoy vegetables were successfully harvested from the Aku Hatinya PKK RW 05 Garden, Kuningan Timur Urban Village, Setiabudi District, South Jakarta, which is located on the rooftop of At-Taufieq Islamic Junior High School.

Empty land into useful space

Chairwoman of Setiabudi District TP PKK, Fonda Iswahyudi said this harvesting activity is part of an effort to maintain environmental food security through urban cultivation by utilizing unused land.

"We're using this rooftop to cultivate pak choy, turning what was previously empty land into useful space," she said, Monday (9/21).

Fonda explained that the bok choy harvest obtained is not only used to meet food needs, but also has economic value.

"The Setiabudi District TP PKK currently has a marketing place as well as customers who buy the harvest directly," she added.

The sale of the harvest will be used to increase cash and purchase seeds and meet plant care needs so that cultivation activities can continue sustainably.

"Hopefully there will be other locations such as school or office rooftops that can be used for environmental food security," she hoped.

Meanwhile, one of the administrators of the At-Taufieq Islamic Junior High School Foundation, Fatimah, said she was happy and proud of the plant cultivation activities on the school's rooftop.

She hopes that the types of plants cultivated in the future will be more diverse, including family medicinal plants (TOGA) and various other types of plants.

"We strongly support all positive environmental activities, especially as the results are very beneficial to the local economy," she admitted.
