South Jakarta Mayor Urges Residents to Safeguard Public Facilities

South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo urged residents and relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to work together to maintain and supervise public and social facilities in the South Jakarta area.

The appeal is related to the missing iron plates of the steps of the Bulungan Pedestrian Bridge (JPO), Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, which are suspected to have been the target of vandalism.

Related to this matter, he added, his party has cooperated with the relevant OPD, in this case the Public Works Sub-agency to immediately carry out repairs.

"The maintenance of the pedestrian bridge is under the management of Public Works. Therefore, we have coordinated for immediate repairs to ensure the comfort and safety of passersby," he said, Tuesday (9/22).

He urged residents to work together to safeguard South Jakarta and to immediately report any acts of vandalism at public facilities.

"We will also continue to coordinate with the police and also assign regional elements to monitor locations that are potentially prone to negative activities," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, Rifky Rismal explained that there are 13 missing iron plates for the pedestrian bridge stairs on the Bulungan side and seven on the Attorney General's Office side, so a total of 20 plates are missing.

"The team has inspected the bridge. They found that the bolts for the other steps had been removed and there were indications that they would be removed again," he explained.

While waiting for repairs, Rifky continued, saying that pedestrian crossings will be focused on the integrated pedestrian bridge facilities at CSW or ASEAN which are not far from the location.

"I ask residents to work together to maintain the facilities provided. Don't let vandalism cause difficulties for others," he stated.
