Regency Government Assists in Transporting Clean Water on Panggang Island

The Seribu Islands Regency Government is assisting in transporting clean water belonging to residents from the PAM Jaya Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) on Pramuka Island to Panggang Island, Seribu Utara Islands.

The Regent of the Seribu Islands, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan, said that the provision of the transport fleet was a form of government attention to fulfilling the community's basic needs, especially clean water.

"We're providing this assistance to residents of Panggang Island who purchase gallons of clean water from the Pramuka Island Water Resources Management Agency (BWRO) but are facing ferry transportation issues. We hope this assistance will streamline distribution and ease the burden on residents," he said, Wednesday (9/23).

Fadjar explained that to ensure optimal transportation, the Seribu Islands Regency Government deployed a joint fleet of vessels. The fleet consisted of vessels belonging to the urban village office, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Fire and Rescue Sub-agency, and the Seribu Islands Regent's official vessel.

"We are ready to deploy personnel and vehicles to assist the community. Just report it," he added.

One of the local residents, Evi (36) stated the price of gallon water at the Pramuka Island Water Resources Management Center (BWRO) is relatively affordable, at Rp 4,000 per gallon. However, residents without their own fleet must pay additional fees to rent a boat or use a motorcycle taxi.

"Previously, the facilities for transporting water to Panggang Island were inadequate. Now, the presence of transport ships has made it much easier for us to obtain clean water," she admitted.
