Drains on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai Cleaned

A total of 25 joint personnel were deployed to clean the water channel on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, RT 01/16, Klender Urban Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta.

Head Section of Economy and Development of Klender Urban Village, Tiyas Mirnasari said the cleaning was carried out because the water channel, which is approximately 50-100 centimeters wide and 1-2 meters deep, was filled with rubbish.

"The drains are full of trash and fallen sidewalk paving blocks. If left unchecked, they could cause flooding during the rainy season. We'll clean them immediately," she said, Thursday (9/24).

According to her, all the waste from the cleaning process is then transported using UPS Badan Air's operational mini trucks to be disposed of at the nearest temporary shelter (TPS).

She added that the cleaning process went smoothly without any problems. This activity is expected to maintain optimal drainage function while reducing the potential for flooding around Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai during rainy seasons.

"We also ask residents to help maintain the cleanliness of the drains, especially by not throwing rubbish carelessly into the drains," she appealed.

Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Fauzi expressed his appreciation for the cleaning of the water channels on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

"Drain cleanliness must be a priority. Moreover, it has been raining recently, so we must avoid blockages and shallowing that could lead to flooding," he admitted.
