Fire Destroys Karet Kuning Warehouse, Zero Casualties Reported

A fire broke out at a warehouse on Jalan Anggrek II, RT 08/02, Karet Kuningan Urban Village, Setiabudi Sub-district, South Jakarta, Friday (9/25).

South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency's Operation Section Head Sjukri Bahanan shared that emergency dispatchers received the fire report from a local resident at 2:58 AM.
"We rushed 20 fire engines along with 95 personnel straight to the scene," he expressed, Friday (9/25).
Fire Engulfs Shophouse and House in Pela MampangSjukri elaborated that the blaze gutted a warehouse sitting on roughly 2,000 square meters of land. The facility was used to store HT radios, repeaters, and carpet supplies.
Firefighters managed to contain the flames by 3:35 AM. Given the highly flammable nature of the stored goods, personnel made sure containment was fully secured before moving on to the cooling phase.
"We started the cooling operation at 4:50 AM, and the entire firefighting and cooling operation was officially wrapped up at 7:37 AM," he explained.
Besides reducing the warehouse building to ashes, the blaze—believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit—also gutted three trucks and a motorcycle.
"No casualties were reported from this incident. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local law enforcement," he noted.
Meanwhile, Prana Dharma, the local resident who filed the initial report, admitted that he heard a loud popping noise coming from inside the warehouse. When he went to check, the flames were already raging and consuming nearby items.
"I immediately called Fire and Rescue Sub-agency's emergency hotline. In less than five minutes, personnel arrived and sprang into action, successfully preventing the flames from spreading to nearby residential homes," he concluded.
