Pasar Baru Rowing Race Set to Take Place This Sunday

The 2026 Pasar Baru Rowing Race for the Central Jakarta Mayor's Cup is set to take place on Sunday (9/27).

The event promotes togetherness through sport and recreation and will be held along the Ciliwung River in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.

Jakarta Pushes to Add More Sports Facilities

Central Jakarta Youth and Sports Sub-agency Head Rusdiyanto pointed out that the Pasar Baru Rowing Race is held annually in collaboration with the Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency as part of the Pasar Baru Festival.

"However, this year's Central Jakarta Mayor's Cup Rowing Race is being held as a separate event. Together with the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) Central Jakarta, we are organizing the race to bring the community together and encourage residents to take part in sports," he said Friday (9/25).

Rusdiyanto said the 2026 Pasar Baru Rowing Race divides participants into three groups: students, community representatives from eight sub-districts, and representatives of Central Jakarta sub-agencies (SKPDs).

The community category includes representatives from all eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta, divided into men's and women's categories, totaling 16 teams.

"For the student and OPD/ASN categories, each team must consist of four men and two women, making six participants per boat. The competition will use a knockout system," he explained.

He said the 2026 Pasar Baru Rowing Race will begin with a group healthy-heart exercise session at 6 AM, followed by an entertainment stage and a Barongsai lion dance performance.

The organizers are also working with Pasar Baru Urban Village to prioritize the participation of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"MSME participation is specifically for local residents around Pasar Baru so that the event's benefits can be felt directly by the local community," he added.
