Field Coordinator of Cilincing District's Water Resource Unit, Nandi Yantoro said, normalization was carried out based on the unoptimal condition of the channel because the channel bed was low and had narrowed so that its capacity was unable to handle the maximum water flow when it rained.
Drainage Channel on Jalan Blok Dukuh Undergoes Revitalization"Normalization is carried out to restore function and increase channel capacity so that water flows more smoothly, especially during rain," he said, Thursday (10/1).
Nandi explained that the work was carried out on both sides of the 72-meter-long drainage. The retaining wall was constructed using river stones, measuring 40 centimeters high and 20 centimeters wide.
"The work involved around seven Blue Troop personnel along with supporting equipment," he explained.
"Work has been underway since late August. If all goes well, we aim to have the entire project completed next week," he stated.
Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Abiansyah (38) admitted the normalization carried out is very important to ensure smooth water flow while reducing the potential for puddles when it rains.
"We hope that after completion, the water flow will be smoother and will not overflow easily when it rains," he hoped.
