Jakarta Bapemperda Wraps Up Deliberations on Child-Friendly City Bill

Jakarta Regional Legislation Body (Bapemperda), alongside the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (DPPAPP), has wrapped up deliberations on the Draft Bylaw for Child-Friendly Cities/Regencies (KLA).

Comprising 34 articles across 10 chapters, the KLA Draft Bylaw is designed to reinforce child protection and rights-fulfillment systems in Jakarta.
Bapemperda Chairman Abdul Aziz stated, completing the KLA Draft Bylaw rounds out the deliberations for a total of four bills submitted by DPPAPP.

"Those four bylaws will form a strong framework to enhance family, child, and women's protection across Jakarta," he expressed, Friday (10/2).
He further highlighted the need for safe recreational zones, especially for children growing up in crowded neighborhoods.
He suggested that the Jakarta administration leverage public assets, including school yards, office buildings, and local government offices, to create safe play spaces and steer kids away from high-risk areas.
At the same time, Jakarta PPAPP Agncy Head Dwi Oktavia lauded the Jakarta DPRD's Bapemperda for thoroughly and timely finalizing discussions on the KLA Bill.
She is committed to swiftly drafting a Gubernatorial Regulation as a derivative rule so that Jakarta's child and women protection framework can be bolstered right away.
"By doing so, we can fully and immediately enhance the child and women protection ecosystem in Jakarta," she continued.
