Jakarta City Council (DPRD) Commission D supports the Jakarta Provincial Government's proposal to establish a regional reserve fund, saying it is important to ensure sustainable funding for long-term infrastructure development in the capital.
We in Commission D fully support this proposal
Commission D Chairwoman Yuke Yurike said projects such as flood control, water management, public transportation, and public housing require sustained budget support.
Executives Applaud DPRD's Approval of 2026 Revised Regional BudgetShe stressed that these needs cannot be met solely through a single year's budget allocation. A reserve fund is therefore needed to provide funding certainty for infrastructure programs that take years to complete.
"We in Commission D fully support this proposal because vital infrastructure projects such as flood control and public housing require long-term funding certainty," Yuke said on Friday (10/2).
Yuke added that establishing a reserve fund is also part of efforts to maintain the region's fiscal health.
She noted that Commission D is ready to work with relevant agencies (OPDs) on the Draft Bylaw on the Regional Reserve Fund to ensure the funds are used effectively and benefit the public.
"The Jakarta Provincial Government can also make the management of these funds part of its efforts to strengthen regional budget governance," she added.
Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government proposed establishing a Rp5.6 trillion regional reserve fund to be allocated gradually through the regional budget. The fund will support long-term infrastructure development, including public transportation, flood control, housing, and health and education facilities.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the scheme was designed to keep the city's finances transparent and healthy while strengthening its ability to manage fiscal risks. He also wants Jakarta to serve as a role model for other provinces in maintaining healthy regional budgets.
