Daan Mogot Green Lane Revitalized

A 100-meter-long green belt along Jalan Daan Mogot in West Cengkareng, West Jakarta, is being revitalized. Previously, the area was frequently used for illegal parking and street vendors.

Deploying 100 joint personnel

Head of Cengkareng District, Suhardin said land occupation for illegal parking and street vendors makes the area dirty, chaotic and triggers traffic jams.

His party carried out integrated clean-up and arrangement by deploying 100 joint personnel from the PPSU, Satpol PP, City Parks and Forests, Public Works and Transportation, on Saturday (10/3) and Sunday (10/4).

"Joint personnel also cleaned and tidied up the land area, cleared away rubbish, remaining materials from illegal construction, fallen tree trunks and utilities," he said, Monday (10/5).

Suhardin hopes that the revitalization will resolve the issue of greenbelt misuse. Furthermore, to prevent illegal parking and the reoccupation of street vendors, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Transportation Agency personnel will routinely monitor the area.

Meanwhile, Head of West Jakarta City Park and Forestry, Dirja Kusuma stated the revitalization of the green belt will be carried out in stages. In the initial phase, the team has replaced dead plants and improved the landscaping.

"After the tree planting, we will install a no-litter sign to discourage people from littering near the bus stops. We will review additional plants and facilities as needed," he stated.
