Member of Commission B of the Jakarta City Council, Muhammad Al Fatih, supports the implementation of the Joint Movement to Overcome Morning Congestion (Gebrak Pagi) initiated by the Jakarta Transportation Agency.
I completely agree with this program
This program involves 1,420 joint personnel placed at 90 priority points to reduce congestion, especially around strategic construction projects.
Dishub Assigns 1,420 Personnel to Manage Traffic at 90 Priority LocationsGebrak Pagi is held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30–8:00 AM. The program is based on vehicle volume monitoring data from July–September 2026 and will be evaluated periodically to improve the effectiveness of congestion management.
"I completely agree with this program. In fact, I've been advocating for strengthening and increasing personnel in the field during peak hours like this since last year," he said, Wednesday (10/14).
He assessed that the program needs to be expanded, both in terms of personnel and deployment locations. Supervision should be prioritized around excavation projects, areas with high construction activity, intersections prone to traffic jams, and bottlenecks that frequently impede traffic flow.
Al Fatih emphasized that Transportation Agency officers are not only responsible for managing traffic but also must ensure smooth and orderly traffic flow. Officers must take firm action against drivers who cut in line, break through, or encroach on the rights of other road users who are queuing orderly.
"The culture of queuing on the roads must be enforced. Disciplined and law-abiding residents must not be disadvantaged by road users who arbitrarily cut in line. Officers must protect the rights of orderly road users," he stated.
Furthermore, Al Fatih encouraged the Transportation Agency to evaluate the implementation schedule based on vehicle volume data. If proven effective, the program could be expanded to more priority locations and adjusted to accommodate peak traffic times. Coordination with construction project implementers also needs to be strengthened to ensure excavation work and infrastructure development do not further impede traffic flow.
"The presence of officers must really have an impact on the smooth flow of traffic, discipline of road users, and reducing people's travel time," he emphasized.
