Anti-Dengue Drive Intensified in Pesanggrahan

A mosquito breeding site eradication (PSN) drive in RT 09/RW 02, Pesanggrahan Urban Village, South Jakarta, recorded a larva-free index of 98 percent. This milestone aligns with the neighborhood reporting zero cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) to date.

The momentum we have built in municipal waste management must continue

Pesanggrahan Urban Village Head, Mochamad Isnaeni, stated that the milestone was based on field inspection results conducted by Jumantik (community larva monitors), community health center (Puskesmas) personnel, and other related local stakeholders.

"This morning, out of 100 households inspected, mosquito larvae were detected in only two homes," he expressed, Friday (10/16).

While welcoming the positive trend, Isnaeni warned residents not to grow complacent, emphasizing that sustained environmental cleanliness is vital to eliminating mosquito breeding grounds.

"We're calling for a joint effort to engage households in routine self-inspections for mosquito larvae to drive up our community health standards," he explained.

He urged residents to adhere strictly to sustainable waste management directives under Gubernatorial Instruction No. 5/2026, stressing that consistent sanitation efforts are vital to preventing unsightly waste build-up across residential areas.

"The momentum we have built in municipal waste management must continue. Our living spaces must not fall into neglect or become unlivable because of accumulated trash," he explained.

Pesanggrahan Sub-district Health Center Environmental Health Specialist Horasma Tambaruhur Purba emphasized that dengue prevention remains anchored in the 3M Plus campaign—namely, draining water containers, sealing storage tanks, and recycling or discarding unused goods prone to harboring mosquitoes.

"Today, we uncovered discarded tires in the area. We urged residents to cover them with tarps to keep rainwater out and eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds," he stated.

He encouraged locals and volunteer monitors to keep up their mosquito-control routines, noting that while the area has stayed dengue-free up to October 2026, staying alert is critical as the rainy season sets in.

"People need to be ready as the weather turns. During the rainy season, make sure no water is left pooling in old bottles, buckets, or disused containers. We all have a role to play in keeping our neighborhood safe," he stated.
