He added that not many are aware of the historical presence of the Ottoman Empire in Indonesia, which will be highlighted as the storyline for the joint film.
Kutay Film Founder Iskender Bingol disclosed that his team traveled to Indonesia specifically for the Jakarta Film Summit 2026 to forge a strategic partnership with the Jakarta Film Commission. They aim to produce a historical film highlighting the shared heritage of Indonesia and Turkey during Dutch rule.
According to him, the Ottoman Empire played a supportive role in aiding Indonesian fighters against Dutch colonization.
"We intend to bring this unique historical chapter to life on the silver screen," he explained.
He welcomed the invitation from the Deputy Governor and the opportunity to work alongside the Jakarta Film Commission.
Bingol noted that production is targeted to start within three months at most, with around 70 percent of filming set to take place in Jakarta and the rest in Turkey.
Bingol remains confident that technical preparations—including costume design and actor recruitment—will be completed on time.
"Our aim is to roll the cameras in two to three months," he concluded.
