Channel Improvement Progress in Tempe Alley Reaches 70 Percent

Water channel revitalization in Tempe Alley, Jalan Haji Amsir, RT 06/03, Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta, continues to accelerate. Work has now reached 70 percent progress and is targeted for completion by the end of November 2026.

Carried out along 158.5 meters

Head of Tanjung Priok District Water Resources Unit, Neti Heriati said the revitalization is a follow-up to residents' proposals submitted through the aspirations of members of the Jakarta City Council.

"The old channel is small so its capacity is inadequate and has the potential to cause flooding during heavy rain," she said, Monday (10/26).

Neti explained that the channel, which was previously around 25 centimeters wide, has now been widened to 40 centimeters with a depth of 40 centimeters.

"Revitalization is carried out along 158.5 meters to increase the channel capacity," she explained.

According to her, the revitalization work involved seven Blue Troop personnel. The work is carried out manually because the location is in a densely populated residential area.

"Work began in late August. Hopefully, it will be completed soon so it can function optimally during the rainy season," she added.

Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Rozaq (64) hopes that the channel improvement can help prevent potential flooding and improve environmental comfort, especially ahead of the rainy season.

"Hopefully this effort can anticipate flooding," he hoped.
