Budget Run Out, School Construction in Koja Stopped

Due to lacking budget, the construction of SDN Rawa Badak Selatan 11/12 Pagi, Koja, North Jakarta is stopped. The budget of Rp 6.115 billion is already run out.

Elin Salbiah (25), a resident living on Jalan Bendungan Melayu, RT 04/01, Rawa Badak Selatan, said the developers had step away from the construction site since three months ago. This abandoned building had collapsed twice.

According to her, the construction which started in July 2013 was run smoothly. The students were moved to SMPN 136 building located about one kilometer.

Muhammad Idris, SDN 11/12 teacher, stated his students have to share time in participating learning activity with SMPN 136 students.

He added that the teaching schedule must be moved from morning to afternoon due to waiting for SMPN 136 students finished their activity. His side also pays rental fee to the school.

"I don't know exactly how much, but it should be used for cleanliness fee," Idrus stated.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Head of Infrastructure Board for Dept. of Education, Sarjoko, explained the discontinuation is caused by runs out budget. Next construction is waiting for another auction process.

"It could be continued in August and it is hoped to be done this year," he explained.
