Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo said that the purpose of KJP is to remove the dropouts in the city, yet in reality, there are many SD and SMP students who cannot continue their studies.
“Yes, back again to the first reason of Jakarta Smart Card making,
we saw many SD and SMP student’s dropout, but it was closed. Don’t you think by KJP covering, free education solves the problem ,” said Jokowi at the City Hall after attending National Education Day (Hardiknas) ceremony, Friday (5/2).City Has Fulfilled Residents’ Basic NeedsThe problem for students and the parents also laid on education needs such as purchasing notebooks, uniforms, shoes, and other needs.
“There is still clothes matter, book matter, shoes matter, transportation matter. That is not a small budget. Society's needs must be heard,” said this former of Surakarta Mayor.
Meanwhile in the commemorating of National Education Day, there are two important things that should be noticed. First is the education service to students in schools because education is a constitutional right for every citizen, and if the teachers or school services are not good, it will impact on the students. Therefore, it can cause learners to break the rules, and led to the relationship termination between the student and the school or so called drop out.
“Are there students that have been dropped out in SMP level? Don’t you think there is not. There are many of them in the city, so it needs to be swept. We have to make sure that the education provided by government ans state is truly given,” he stated.
Jokowi added that the second problem is education and teacher quality. If the quality is poor, then service quality improvement will be nothing. “The second is quality, both curriculum and teachers’ qualities, both are important. So the quality of the teacher is an obligatory!” he completed.
