A total of 100 members of the West Jakarta Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM) received education on fire prevention on Monday (11/2).
West Jakarta FKDM currently has a monitoring application
This activity is the result of collaboration between the West Jakarta City Government and the State Electricity Company (PLN).
Jakarta Urged to Strengthen Fire Prevention in Densely Populated AreasThe Secretary of the West Jakarta City Administration, Imron Sjahrin, said that FKDM members have responsibility for potential fire threats, challenges, obstacles and disturbances in their respective areas.
"The mayor believes it's necessary to strengthen the role of the FKDM in fire prevention, as West Jakarta is currently experiencing the highest number of fires," he said.
Imron explained that as of October 2026, there were 457 fire incidents in West Jakarta. Therefore, even though there are volunteer firefighters (Redkar) in West Jakarta, he hopes for greater participation from the FKDM.
Apart from the recent extreme hot weather, according to Imron, many fire incidents are also triggered by incorrect use and utilization of electricity that does not meet standards.
"West Jakarta FKDM currently has a monitoring application that can be integrated with potential fire hazards and incidents, so that the impact of disasters in the region can be minimized," he explained.
Head of West Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency, Suheri stated the party intends to integrate the FKDM's application in fire prevention efforts.
"Once the application has been adjusted, it can identify potential red flags. This will allow for follow-up and other actions, as FKDM monitors the progress," he stated.
