The Orange personnel of Cipulir Urban Village together with Blue personnel of South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency are dredging water channel on Jalan Murtado, RW 01, Cipulir Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama District. This activity is carried out as a mitigation measure to anticipate puddles and flooding ahead of the peak of the rainy season.
Work has reached 50 percent
Head Section of Economy and Development for Cipulir Urban Village, Muhammad Tahjuddin Rosyi said the dredging is focused on water channel passing areas of RT 05, 10 and 11 at RW 01.
Drainage Channels Along Two Rawajati Roads DredgedThe area has become a point of concern because the drainage channels have become shallow due to an accumulation of silt and trash. Furthermore, the area is situated in a low-lying basin, making it prone to inundation during heavy rainfall.
"Through these mitigation efforts, we are addressing potential inundation caused by the accumulation of silt and trash, which has led to the shallowing of water channels," he said, Wednesday (11/4).
Rosyi explained that the dredging is scheduled to last for four days, involving 16 personnel from the 'Orange' and 'Blue' personnel.
"This is the second day, work has reached 50 percent of the total length of the water channel which is around 200 meters," he explained.
He added that public awareness in maintaining drainage function is crucial so that water flows smoothly when heavy rain falls so that there is no more flooding in the area.
Meanwhile, Head of RT 05/01, Cipulir Urban Village, Saiful Anwar appreciated the quick response of the urban village officials together with related agencies in handling the problem of flooding in their area.
"Dredging mud sediment and cleaning up trash really helps smooth the flow of water so that our area can avoid potential flooding," he admitted.
