City-Austria to Establish Cooperation in Development Sector

Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama welcomed a visit of Austrian Transport, Innovation and Technology Minister Doris Bures at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (5/6). The visit aimed to establish cooperation in development sector.

Basuki disclosed that Jakarta Provincial Government wants to establish cooperation concretely. In addition, the city wants to study about the capital development. Moreover, countries in Europe have succeeded in changing the slums into clean city.
"We want to cooperate with Europe countries, because there are many clean rivers and fresh air. Initially, they also had the same problem like us," he told.

"They need more time, because they have to learn from mistakes. With this cooperation, we could go through any problem and can immediately face it smoothly," he expressed.
In the meeting, he also wants to involve some regional working units (SKPD) and regional-owned enterprises (BUMD). "I want to do this seriously. As such, we need to hold a technical meeting together with BUMD and SKPD in order to discuss how to prepare the payment, its technical, etc," he exclaimed.
He admitted that his party also opens the opportunity of cooperation with other countries for the capital development. Some countries, like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, planned to be involved in such cooperation. "We positively welcome them. Those countries have varied products, please register yourself. Just look for local company and then registered to the Government Procurement Regulatory Body (LKPP) or e-catalog. So, we will buy the product if its quality is good," he expressed.
Basuki continued Jakarta government needs assistance for wastewater management. Because in Jakarta, the waste water management is only served about three percent.
Based on beritajakarta.com observations, in the meeting, Bures was accompanied by a business delegation from his country, while Basuki accompanied by department heads. The meeting was also attended by Head of Transportation Department Muhammad Akbar, Head of Public Works Department Manggas Rudi Siahaan, and Head of Health Department Saptastri Ediningtyas, Deputy Governor for Trasnportation Division, Sutanto Suhodo, acted as moderator.
On that occasion, Jakarta government explained some programs that have been and will be carried out in recent years, either in the era of Joko Widodo and Fauzi Bowo.
Such programs are renovation of the Jakarta City Hall, development of Transjakarta bus rapid transit (BRT), development of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) with route Lebak Bulus-Kampung Bandan, and giant sea wall.
