Basuki Ingin Survei Kemiskinan DKI Pakai Nilai KHL

Basuki Wants Poverty Survey Using KHL Value

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama wants poverty survey in the capital using the value of standard cost of living (KHL). All this time the value that used is living needs by 2,500 calories per day and standard from United Nations (PBB).

I want to use KHL such as provincial minimum wage survey. How much the living needs of a single person in Jakarta

"I want to use KHL such as provincial minimum wage survey. How much the living needs of a single person in Jakarta?," he stated, at City Hall, Thursday (7/21).

All this time, he stated, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) using benchmark by Rp 2,500 calories thus it could reach Rp 450 thousand per month. So people who have income Rp 500 thousand are not categorized as lower-income people.

Informal Sector Managed to Reduce Poverty Potential in Jakarta

It uses PBB standard by USD 2 per day, the income will reach Rp 800 thousand per month. He assessed, with both standards, the number of the poor people in Jakarta is more than three percent.

"This does not make sense if all people with income by Rp 500 thousand are called the poor," he expressed.

While if it uses KHL value, the living needs could reach Rp 2.5 million. With KHL standard, the number of the poor people is more rampant.

We won't use KHL term like UMP, so we change it with KHC that means sufficient cost of living. The component is different with KHL," he disclosed.

Basuki also criticized residents surveyed did not all have Jakarta ID card. All residents residing in slums are being recorded but not necessarily have Jakarta ID card.

"This is not a doubt, the concept looks something different. Which is why we also ask BPS to survey different poverty," he finished.
