City administration continues to finalize Jakarta Integrated Tunnel (JIT) development. PT Mulia Jaya Antaredja has been appointed as the contractor to build two tunnels worth tens of billion rupiahs, and a number of countries are ready to assist JIT development.
As promised, the contractor will finish the feasibility assessment this year, if they do not move, it means we will find another contractor
“I don’t know the JIT development process. It depends on the corporation wants to cooperate with whom,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama at City Hall, Tuesday (5/6).
City will approve the assessment of that integrated tunnel to solve transportation problem and flooding management during the rainy season.
City Plans to Open Up Markets in USA“The JIT development in the capital city will adopt France technology and will not burden city budget (APBD) and national budget (APBN),” Basuki said.
However, Basuki cannot specify when the JIT construction will be realized, but the city administration has given a deadline to the contractor until the end of this year to finish the feasibility assessment.
“As promised, the contractor will finish the feasibility assessment this year, if they do not move, it means we will find another contractor," he added.
The JIT development plans to begin its construction in the late of 2014. JIT will be built in two locations, Ulujami-Tanah Abang and Pasar Minggu-Manggarai.
JIT Ulujami-Tanah Abang is intended to accommodate the overflow of the Pesanggrahan River, while JIT Pasar Minggu-Manggarai is intended to accommodate the overflow of Ciliwung River.
As planned, JIT will be built in two sections as long as 12 km, with a depth of 5-15 meters from the ground, and a diameter of 11 meters. JIT will consist of two tunnel levels: the bottom tunnel will be used as a water channel, while the top channel will be used for vehicle’s road.
