City to Build Waste Management at Traditional Markets

Jakarta Provincial Government prepares two ways in handling the waste problem in the future. First is by maximizing the function of waste management and second way is providing new waste management.

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, said city administration will provide waste management at several traditional markets. It is aimed to divide the load at Bantar Gebang integrated dump site.

“We try to provide new waste management at traditional markets,” he said, Thursday (8/4).

Garbage at Tanjung Elang Berseri RPTRA to Be Treated

According to him, 80 percent of market waste is organic type. By providing waste management, it will give advantage for many sides.

“Organic waste can be processed as compost. It gives advantages for economic side,” he added.

As the example, waste management will be provided behind Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta.
