TransJakarta Bus Drivers will Be Paid Three Times UMP

To improve TransJakarta service, which is often complained by passengers, city administration will give training for bus drivers. In order to boost their professional working performance, Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama, planned to rise articulated TransJakarta driver salary three times of Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP), which now reaches Rp 2.4 million.

The training is aimed to create TransJakarta drivers who aware on traffic discipline and passenger safety so that it will lure private vehicle users to switch to TransJakarta.

“We will give salary three times UMP to articulated bus drivers, so there is no more violating and reckless drivers on roads,” Basuki stated at Monas, Thursday (5/8).

Basuki Interested to Buy Europe Bus

Basuki clarified that his party will not hesitate to discipline drivers who often misused KIR since the high public transportation accident has made residents are reluctant to use public transportation.

“We will execute and imprison perpetrators who violate KIR. We won’t care on people who do not care on other people’s life. Our job is to protect city residents and who want to use public transportation,” he emphasized.

Previously, Basuki accompanied by Swedish Ambassador, Ewa Polano, President Director of PT United Tractors (ATPM Scania), Djoko Pranoto, President Director PT Transportasi Jakarta, Antonius NS Kosasih, along with some city administration officials tested Scania brand bus at Monas, yesterday morning.

Scania bus that was tried by the former of Belitung Timur Regent is a gas fueled bus Euro 6 with a capacity of 140 people (42 seats), and the floor high is equal to TransJakarta bus stops.
