Transjakarta Bus Purchasing Budget Tripled

Head of City Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, said that the budget of Rp 3.2 trillion for TransJakarta and BKTB medium-size-bus purchasing has been approved by City Council. The budget is promised to be spent wisely since this year bus purchasing is using e-catalog system, and is no longer using auction system.
However, Akbar still cannot make sure the number and the kind of buses that will be bought since the bus price unit is released by Procurement Policy Institution or Government Services (LKPP).

He stated that Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo never gives him a target for bus purchasing. However, Jokowi emphasized that in this year, TransJakarta bus needs to be added. “I was demanded for the addition to be done immediately this year,” told Akbar.
The proposed budget in 2013 for TransJakarta bus purchasing was Rp 1.2 trillion, but City Council cut the budget to only Rp 1 trillion. The bus procurement from Tiongkok company, Ankai branded, was using auction system.
