Jokowi: Ciliwung River Waterway Construction will Finish Next Year

Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targeted the construction of Ciliwung River waterway that connects East Flood Canal (KBT), to finish next year. This project is one of Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts in solving flooding matter in the capital city.

“Yes, it (Ciliwung River waterway construction) will fi nish next year,” stated Jokowi at City Hall, Friday (5/9).

Waterway Construction,Traffic on Jalan Otista III Diverted

As reported earlier, this project has made East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department to apply traffic diversion on Jalan Otista III, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, starting from Saturday (5/10) until upcoming August 10.

“We have socialized this matter to the residents through traffic signs setting in the location. We have prepared alternative lanes and the motorists are urged to avoid passing on Jalan Otista III,” stated Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Benhard Hutajulu, Thursday (5/8).

The motorists who will pass on Jalan Otista Raya towards Jalan Otista III will be diverted to Jalan Kebon Nanas Utara I, while vehicles heading to Jalan H Yahya will be diverted to Jalan Panti Asuhan and entered Jalan Otista III for then headed to Jalan DI Panjaitan. Meanwhile, vehicles from Jalan DI Panjaitan will be diverted to Jalan Kebon Nanas Selatan towards Jalan Kebon Nanas Selatan II for then headed to Jalan Otista Raya.

According to Hutajulu, there are a lot of alternative roads in Kebon Nanas Utara. However, for motorists who are not used to pass in this area are worried would get lost. For that, he suggested the motorists to obey the traffic signs and follow officer’s guidance in the location. There will be 10 personnel of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department deployed to control the traffic flows in that area. They will be divided into two shifts.

East Jakarta Resort Police Traffic Unit Chief AKBP Supoyo added that to regulate the traffic, his party will also deploy 10 personnel to work in two shifts.

“I’m sure there will be no problem on protocol roads, either on Jalan Otista Raya as well as Jalan DI Panjaitan. Besides, we’ll prepare our officers on location to control the traffic,” he uttered.
