Jakarta City Council assessed the trial of odd-system traffic system is effective to reduce traffic jam.

Yuke Yurike, Commission B Member, said macro transportation system in the capital should be improved soon. It is the way to handle traffic jam.

“Odd-even system is only effective in certain areas. It means macro transportation must be improved soon,” she said, Saturday (8/20).

Moreover, citizen mindset must be changed also. Private vehicle users must start to use public transport. In fact, the facilities should be good.

“The facilities are park and ride, better transportation, better route, better sidewalk, and comfort shelter,” she added.

She supports the trial to be continued while waiting the electronic road pricing system (ERP). But the evaluation must be conducted routinely.

“Odd-Even system area can be widened before implementing the ERP system. But is depend on the evaluation result. The policy should not disadvantage the citizens,” she closed.
