PLN: Power Outage Caused by Power Deficit

Most areas in the capital city were in the dark last night, Monday (5/12), due to power outage caused by power deficit of 600 megawatts (MW) experienced by State Electricity Company (PLN). The deficit was triggered by disturbance in Muara Karang power plant which led to temporary electricity termination in Jakarta and Tangerang.

Deputy Manager of Communication and Environmental Development for PT PLN Jakarta and Tangerang Distribution, Roxy Swagerino, apologized to all citizens for this inconvenience.

Some of the areas affected by the power outage were Grogol, Budi Kemuliaan, Kebon Sirih, Karet, Kuningan, Setia Budi, Semanggi, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Tanah Abang, Jalan Asia Afrika, Bintaro, Ciputat, Senayan, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jalan Joglo, Jalan Kebayoran Lama, Kebun Jeruk, Jalan Raya Tomang, BSD City, Lippo Karawaci, Jalan Raya Legok, Cengkareng, Duri Kosambi, Jalan Raya Serpong, Kebon Jeruk, Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Kapuk, Jalan Bandengan, and surroundings.

Due to this incident, some traffic lights were not working, thus traffic flows on some roads had become chaotic. Police officers were deployed to regulate the traffic, especially at junctions.
