The tires of cars parked haphazardly on Jalan Pluit Karang Utara Raya, Pluit Urban Village, Penjaringan Sub-District, North Jakarta, were deflated in the raid held by joint personnel of North Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department and North Jakarta Metro Resort Police, Tuesday (5/13). Not only removing tire valves, the officers also ticketed four car owners.
We have conducted socialization many times to the restaurants and PAUD, but in reality we can still see many cars parked here. Earlier, we deflated the tires of 10 private cars and ticketed four car owners
Coordinator of Supervision and Control for North Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Hengki Sitorus, said the raid is held because road users have been complaining many times about traffic congestion in that location. There, vehicles often parked, and sometimes until taking two lanes.
The traffic congestion usually occurs around 12 PM on weekdays, because there are many restaurants and an Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in that location. No wonder, many restaurants’ customers and parents to children who are schooling in the PAUD parked their vehicles haphazardly, which eventually leads to traffic congestion.
Illegal Parking still Rampant in West Jakarta“
We have conducted socialization many times to the restaurants and PAUD, but in reality we can still see many cars parked here. Earlier, we deflated the tires of 10 private cars and ticketed four car owners ,” he stated.According to Sitorus, the cars parked on roadsides are violating Law No. 2/2009 on Traffic.
“This (raid) is also a lesson for other people not to park their cars haphazardly, and that parking on roadsides is prohibited,” he asserted.
One of the car owners whose car tires deflated, Lisa (27), admitted that she had moved her car to the roadside which was not crowded. But since the car still parked on roadside, one of its tires was deflated by the officers.
“I wanted to pick up my kid in the pre-school (PAUD). I was asked to move my car from across the street, but turns out the tire is still deflated,” she complained.
