First Candidate Pair Registers for 2017 Pilkada

Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) receives the first candidate pair of Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor that registers for the 2017 Regional Election (Pilkada).

Jakarta KPU Chairman, Sumarno disclosed, it is the registration of Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor that promoted by political parties. And the first pair is Basuki T Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

Based on Beritajakarta.com's data, both arrived at Jakarta KPU office, Jl Salemba Raya, Central Jakarta around 1.15 PM. They were escorted by tens of supporters, either from political party or public.

"Last night, they said would come today at 1-2 PM along with supporters, they are just escorting us," said Sumarno, at Jakarta KPU office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (9/21).

Due to limited room, there are only allowed 40 supporters. But his party provides two television screens outside the office for other supporters who cannot enter. "We just bring our core team," he expressed. 

According to him, there are two requirements that should be met in registration. Both are requirement for nominating and candidate requirement. It must be met by political parties. The first is the decision of the party's central council leadership which states consent to candidates to be promoted.

"Mr. Basuki and Djarot are supported by four political parties. So these parties must bring the party council leadership decision that signed from the chairman and its secretary that expressed support approval," he uttered.

As for personal requirement, including ID card, statement form, as well as petahana or incumbent letter for leave. 

Security at KPU office is also tight, that is guarded by police to manage and control the candidate's supporters and traffic around the office.
