Treatment Facilities in Hospitals to Be Added Next Year

Andini, a 2.5-year-old girl who suffered lung infection, died on Tuesday (5/13) because of not getting treatment in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Koja General Hospital (RSUD), North Jakarta.

To be honest, in this last few years, Jakarta (Provincial Government) is not thinking on adding (PICU)

Responding the case, Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama admitted that lack of treatment facilities such as PICU-NICU in a number of hospitals in the capital city is indeed a problem which Jakarta Provincial Government has not put too much thought on it.

“To be honest, in this last few years, Jakarta (Provincial Government) is not thinking on adding (PICU),” confessed Basuki, Thursday (5/15).

Besides lacking PICU facility, Basuki disclosed that Jakarta is also lacking cancer and cardio medical equipment. However, he promised that the lack will be filled in next year.

“The lack will be filled in next year. We’re continuously catching this up,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Treatment Guarantor Doctor (DPJP) in Koja RSUD, dr Dewi Iriyani, told that the hospital only has six beds in PICU which always full.

“All this time, the residents only depend on PICU in this hospital. On the other hand, the PICU only has six beds,” she uttered.
