Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama wants all sidewalks to use disability-friendly design. One of the sidewalks already accommodate disabilities design is located in the front of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta.
"We want a region has a sidewalk that is good and friendly to the disabled people," said Basuki, at City Hall, Friday (9/23).
Basuki Inaugurates Disability-Friendly SidewalkThe sidewalk that equipped with portal shape of the letter S. The portal aims to banish the two-wheeled vehicles in order not to pass on the sidewalk. However, due to the shape of S, disabled people who use wheelchairs can still pass.
The sidewalk would also be equipped with guide block to help tuna netra 'for the blind' when walking. Facilities that provided can support all types of disabilities.
"The bus will arrive by the end of this year. The shock-breaker can be angled. Thus the wheelchair can enter into the bus," he finished.
