SMK JIC Began to Operate in 2017

Jakarta Education Dept and Jakarta Islamic Centre (JIC) will set up the Vocational School (SMK). As planned, the SMK that also serves as foundation school will open in the school year 2017/2018.

City Secretary, Saefullah asks Education Dept to prepare the facility and infrastructure to support the SMK JIC. Besides formal education, the school will also give religious education.

"We want the facilities to be prepared well, thus the school year 2017/2018 can be prepared all," he stated, during executive meeting at City Hall, Monday (10/10).

SMK JIC is dedicated to students from low-income family but excel. Later on, every student will undergo selection phase. If they are chosen, they will study for free.

"I believe the demand will be a lot. Because the concept is free. We provide the school for underprivileged people but have academic achievement so they have opportunity," he disclosed.

Jakarta Education Dept Head, Sopan Andrianto disclosed, his side will cooperate with JIC management. Because his dept will only be responsible for the teaching and learning activities (KBM). While the student is in dorm, responsibility lies in JIC.

Sopan added, education concentration of SMK JIC is technology, information and communication. SMK formation is very possible, because the number of SMK in Jakarta is reaching 10 percent so far.

"Probably, we would form State SMK also. The fields of expertise that allows it to be built SMK majoring in technology, informatic and communications," he finished.
