End of This Month, 503 Buildings on Krukut Riverbank Controlled

As many as 503 buildings stood atop Krukut River, starting from Jl Kemang Selatan XII until POP Hotel in Kemang area, South Jakarta will be demolished. As planned, demolition is targeted could be realized by the end of this month.

Jakarta Water Management Dept Head, Teguh Hendrawan disclosed, the 503 buildings should be demolished because they violate the river border line (GSK). If not, the bronjong (rocks wrapped in plaited wires) that has been installed to replace the dam that collapsed a few days ago, will not last long. 

"POP Hotel is one of the offenders. Mr. Mayor says first warning letter will be sent this week," he stated, when he reviewed Krukut River, in Kemang area, South Jakarta, Thursday (10/13).

Building Demolishment in Krukut Riverbank Began

He went on the say that, from the calculation result, the building stands along three kilometers of the riverbank. After being demolished, sheet pile would be installed.

To prevent inundation during rainy season in Kemang, the Water Management Dept operates five portable pumps as temporary handling. It is hoped able to solve inundation and can quickly subsided.

"Heavy equipment is also alerted to make a reservoir in Kemang Selatan XII," he stated.
