City Council (DPRD) asks Jakarta Provincial Government to pay attention to the fate of the teaching staff in private and Islamic madrasah schools. This is because many teachers still receive salary under the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP).

"Most teachers are having high education, but still receiving salary ranging from hundreds of thousands each month," said Pantas Nainggolan, Chairman of City Council Commission E, Saturday (11/5).

Pantas disclosed, teacher welfare in private school compared to state school is very unequal. Whereas, the role of teacher in private and madrasah schools is the same, that is educating children in Jakarta.

"The number of public schools in Jakarta is at least 50 percent. So, the existence of private and madrasah school is very helping the local government in succeeding the education program," he expressed.

Therefore, he asked Jakarta government to also give more attention to them. One of them is by giving incentive.

"KJP program in Jakarta is already good, thus no more children dropout of the school. But, the fate of the teaching staff should also receive attention in the form of incentives," he finished.
