Chicken Slaughterhouse Business Unsettling Residents

Residents on Jalan Kemandoran Pluit, RT 5-6 RW 15, Grogol Utara Urban Village, Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, South Jakarta, complained about the existence of illegal chicken slaughterhouses in their neighborhood. Besides disturbed by the bad smell it produced, the residents are also afraid of being infected by of bird flu virus.

Responding this matter, Head of Kebayoran Lama Sub-District, Agus Irwanto, admitted has coordinated with South Jakarta Livestock and Fishery Sub-Department to relocate the chicken slaughterhouses in that area.
“We have coordinated. The control is waiting for Livestock Department to prepare the replacement location,” he said.
According to Head of South Jakarta Livestock and Fishery Sub-Department Supervision and Control Section, Nurhasan Masud,
his party will still be using persuasive approach in relocating those slaughterhouses.“Indeed, chicken slaughterhouses in Kemandoran Pluit do not have permits. However, some slaughterhouse owners have already moved to Petukangan Utara RPU (bird slaughterhouse). So, we’ll guide the rest towards there, but they request time,” he uttered.
Meanwhile, South Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Tri Djoko, asserted that if those chicken slaughterhouse owners do not immediately moved, city administration will control them.
“We definitely will control them later,” he stressed.
