More than 500 houses in a densely populated settlement at RW 05, Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, Kebon Jeruk Sub-District, West Jakarta, are inundated for as high as 70 centimeters after Pesanggrahan River overflows, Friday (5/23).

Rahman (45), a resident of RT 02/05 Kedoya Selatan, said that since 1 AM, flood as high as 60 centimeters has been inundating residents’ houses which spread at RT 02, 04, 05, 06 and 13. It had receded at 6 AM, but then rises to 70 centimeters after the river overflows again.

“We are familiar with this situation, that’s why no one is taking refuge. Our cars and motorcycles have been evacuated to a higher place in RW 02,” he uttered.

According to Kedoya Selatan Urban Village Head, Nuraini S, her party is still collecting the data of residents who become flood victims. As an anticipation step, urban village officials have coordinated local with Social Sub-Department, Health Sub-Department, Satpol PP, et cetera, to assist flood victims and meet their needs.

“We’re currently waiting for the (data collection) report. According to temporary data, more than 500 houses are inundated because Pesanggrahan River overflows,” she stated.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the overflowing of Pesanggrahan River also inundates the area around Kedoya Social Institution, Jalan Kembangan Raya, for as high as 40 centimeters. As a result, traffic congestion cannot be avoided on the lane towards Kedoya Selatan and vice versa.
