Jakarta Dept. of Cleanliness improves the drainage of Bantar Gebang dump site. The improvement is aimed to smooth the waste water or leachate into the processing installation.

“The improvement is aimed to smooth the leachate into the processing installation pool,” said Isnawa Adji, agency’s head, Sunday (11/27).

He added that the improvement is also aimed to prevent puddle during rain which disturbs the truck mobility.

Meanwhile, Asep Kuswanto, Jakarta Head Unit of Integrated Waste Processing for Dept. of Cleanliness, explained leachate is the liquid that drains or ‘leaches’ from a landfill. It varies widely in composition regarding the age of the landfill and the type of waste that it contains.

Leachate has potency to contaminate the underground and surfaced water. It needs to be processed well.
