Jakarta Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo inaugurates the Kelapa Gading Market on Jalan Cipta Bangung Sarana, Kelapa Gading Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-District, North Jakarta, Monday (5/26). The market is hoped able to maintain the existence of traditional markets in Jakarta.

While wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, he arrived at the location around 1.20 PM and then directly inaugurate the market.

"By saying bismillah , I inaugurated the Kelapa Gading Market, North Jakarta, Monday (5/26) this noon," stated Jokowi, Monday (5/26).

Afterwards, he then signed an inscription and cut ribbon signifying the inauguration of the market.

The market equipped with small mosque, parking lot, and public toilet, has a land as wide as 3.671 square meters and can accommodate 168 peddlers, 334 business places comprising 222 kiosks and 112 stalls.

As for the information, Jakarta Provincial Government and Pasar PD Pasar Jaya keep conducting arrangement against traditional markets by programming for the development or rejuvenation of traditional market using scale priority. The development target itself is targeting 54 markets within 5 years ahead.

Thus far, as many as 4 markets have been inaugurated. They are Ciplak and Cijantung (East Jakarta) as well as Jembatan Dua and Pos Pengumben (West Jakarta).
