Head of East Jakarta Agriculture and Forestry Sub-Department Named as Suspect

East Jakarta State Attorney Office finally named Head of East Jakarta Agriculture and Forestry Sub-Department, Bambang Augustine Wisageni (BWA), as a suspect in the case of alleged corruption act in the development project of Ujung Menteng Urban Forest, Cakung, East Jakarta, as wide as 1.8 hectares, in 2012. In the project worth Rp 10 billion, the state loses Rp 2.3 billion.

However, although BWA has been named as suspect, he is not yet arrested along with two other suspects, G and W, since he has not been called back so far.

“It is possible that there will be other suspects in the Ujung Menteng Urban Forest development project. The person could be from the sub-department or the consultant supervisor. We are investigating the case deeper,” stated Intel Head Section of East Jakarta State Attorney Office, Asep Sontani, Monday (5/26).

2 People Named as Suspect Over Corruption of Ujung Menteng Forest Project

According to Sontani, on July 12, 2012, until December 9, 2012, East Jakarta Agriculture and Forestry Sub-Department was handling the Ujung Menteng Urban Forest development project, while the work was carried out by PT Bunanta Indotama with Golfried Juni Andar as Managing Director and PT Catur Eka Cipta as consultant supervisor.

From the investigation result, it is known there was work volume shortage. But strangely, BWA as the project’s budget use chairman (KPA) and commitment making official (PPK) willing to sign the work documents as if the project done completely 100 percent. In fact, the works done were not in accordance with the design or specifications, like land filling, gazebo roofing, steel roof truss, and several other items. From those items, it is alleged there was budget surplus.

“But, the budget surplus was not reported and BWA even signed the documents proffered by consultant supervisor and contractor,” he disclosed.

For his misconduct, BWA is charged under Article 2 paragraph 1 and Article 3 of Law No. 31/1999 on criminal act of corruption. He is threatened to be subjected to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
